Abracon's ACAJ-109 is a passive dielectric penta-band antenna for PCB surface mounting. This antenna offers wideband coverage from 825 MHz to 2170 MHz spanning all cellular bands: GSM850/900, DCS1800, PCS1900, and WCDMA (Band 1 UMTS). The compact size of this antenna at only 24.0 mm x 5.5 mm x 4.4 mm and its performance versus size is the major appeal of this design, added to which it only needs a 30.0 mm x 13.5 mm no-ground area saving precious PCB area. Peak gain varies with band from 1.3 dBi to 6.4 dBi, and efficiency from 49% to 90% across the antenna bands coverage. For high density PCB designs where space is at a premium, this antenna offers excellent performance and is competitive against external whip or flexible film antenna solutions. The antenna is suited to applications requiring cellular communications for backhaul of data or voice where an external antenna is not practical.
